Harrisburg, PA - This week, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled to uphold the commonsense requirement of voters to put accurate dates on their mail-in ballots, overturning a lower court ruling from last year.
A lower court judge had ruled last November that mail-in ballots that fell short of the statutory state requirements to be properly signed and dated should still be counted.
This resounding victory for election integrity is a repudiation of the Shapiro administration, which has failed to take the necessary steps to enforce state law, opting instead to take unilateral action to make drastic changes to the electoral process without any legislative input.
"The people of Pennsylvania elect their Representatives and Senators to be their voices in Harrisburg," said Rep. Leslie Rossi (R-Westmoreland). "By taking an autocratic approach to governing, Governor Shapiro is following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Tom Wolf, who suffered a humiliating defeat at the ballot box when Pennsylvania voters amended the Constitution to end the former governor's endless seizure of emergency powers."
"An experience as common as signing and dating a document, especially a document as important as a ballot, is a sensible requirement to ensure accuracy and make sure every legal vote is counted," said Rep. Joanne Stehr (R-Schuylkill/Northumberland). "Let this ruling be another reminder that ignoring the law is never a winning strategy."
Nice work!
When are people going to wake up and stop all this nonsense???
