Freedom Caucus Makes Push to Consider 'Save Women's Sports Act'
PAFC Members Submit Discharge Resolution to Force the Consideration of SB 9
July 7th, 2025 – Harrisburg, PA
Senate Bill 9, or the ‘Save Women’s Sports Act,’ is currently being held hostage by House Democrat Education Chairman Peter Schweyer, along with House Democrat Leadership. A procedural technique called a discharge resolution, introduced today by PAFC members, will force this important bill to a vote before the whole House.
“The time to uphold Title IX law and defend women’s sports from radical gender ideology in Pennsylvania is now,” said Freedom Caucus member, Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland). She continued, “Pennsylvanians know it isn’t fair, safe or reasonable to have biological men competing in women’s categories and invading their private spaces.”
Over the past four years women of the Pennsylvania Freedom Caucus have been at the vanguard of the fight to protect girls. First introduced in 2021 by Rep. Gleim, the ‘Protect Women’s Sports Act,’ or HB 972, sought to shield school-age girls from competing against, and sharing locker room space with, biological men. Senate Bill 9 of this legislative session is the newest version of this initiative to protect girls from sex discrimination in sports.
“While Democrats continue to pander to the trans lobby and treat women like second-class citizens, we stand firm with 80% of the populace and President Trump to protect girls in the Keystone state,” added Freedom Caucus member and SB 9 co-sponsor Dawn Keefer (R-York). “It’s time to banish these discriminatory, anti-women policies once and for all. It’s time to liberate female athletes in Pennsylvania.”
